FLOODS FUND RAISING
When floods hit our North Coast of NSW … our members decided to do something tangible to help.
In true Mens Shed style (shoulder to shoulder) our members rallied and collected donations from our members.
At our Board meeting it was decided that the PDMSInc would match the funds raised by members … a unanimous decision ….. and to donate directly to the Lismore City Lions Activity Account
HERE’s what we achieved …..
“The flood relief donations are in and, as Treasurer, I now have to delve into the Shed’s savings and match, dollar for dollar, the donations. Here’s a picture of me tallying the amount to be taken from the Shed’s savings.”
All kidding aside, the total collected from the members was $2,000. With the Shed’s matching the dollar amount, we will be collectively donating $4,000.
Considering our membership of 60 or so blokes, that’s a wonderful effort. And the membership ought to feel proud of that achievement.
Well done all PDMSInc shedders ….

Electric Vehicle Tutorial
One of members is a technical guru. He gave a brilliant presentation on the ins and outs and reasons for electric vehicles.
You can access the presentation HERE …..
We do this regularly on different topics including computing. smartphones and the like.
Community Service
Our shed has an on going arrangement with FLINTWOOD disability services, to provide articles for their clients to finish with painting / decorations. Above is one of the latest deliveries.
Flintwood were so happy to receive a large range of these for their clients.
It’s all part of our community service involvement, and we can provide these articles for no cost to Flintwood.
The articles are all made from re-purposed timber that the shed gets donated. Several of our members have become very skilled in using our CNC machine to create these products.
DGR APPROVAL from Australian Tax Office
Parramatta District Men’s Shed (PDMSInc), has finally been approved by the Australian Tax Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient!!!!!!!!!!
So what does this mean you may well ask?????
It now provides our shed the authorisation to receive Tax Deductible GIFTS and or contributions. But there are certain rules that have to be observed both on the part of the donor and PDMSInc.
GO HERE to see our official recognition ….. ABN registration and Charitable status.
GO HERE to read details about the rules and conditions that apply to these GIFTS or Contributions.
A big “shout out” to our amazing strategic adviser who did all the work behind the scenes
Activity Center
Our shed was approached to make an activity center for a family with a child of special needs. This child requires stimulation and interaction in ways that are difficult without Assistance.
One of our members took this on and came up with this amazing CREATIVE concept and design …..
BUSHFIRE Response
Our shed received a very special and urgent request from a very generous community member. She wanted 20 nesting boxes to give to a friend in the recently fire affected area. This was her gift and way of showing respect for that local community.
Our members grabbed this with glee and joy, started work immediately. They followed the design and cut layouts for a Ring Tail Possum and Micro Bat nesting boxes. We devised the most efficient and minimal wastage cut patterns from sheets of 15mm Marine Plywood ….
This project was delivered in less then a month. Our new shed friends Alicia and Julie were surprised and overwhelmed with the quality and speed ny which our talented team delivered.
Files are here: 1. Ring tail possum box; 2. Ringtail cutting sheet; 3. Microbat nesting box; 4. Micro bat cutting sheet.

On Saturday 7th September our shed held it’s AGM. IT was well attended by membership and the full Board of 7 was elected.
Our shed then held it’s annual post AGM chin wag and “Party” where we discussed what was good, what was not so good and what new initiatives we could look at going forward.
Also in Attendance was Sameer Pandey Councillor for parramatta ward City of Parramatta Council. Sameer kindly officiated the election of Board Members.
